 Meeting called to order by Presidents Veniece Dunn and Julie Olson at 7:10 pm:

·     Pledge of allegiance conducted

·           Attendance sheet distributed for attendees to sign in

·           Quorum established according to South PTSA by-laws

Reviewed. Ending balance: $3512.99.

Budget voted on: Passed

·     Forms handed out and people asked to sign up.

Round Table Discussion: Ways to Ensure Academic Success at South

 

The panel consisted of students: Demii Moore and Andrew Hess; teachers: Ms Silverstein, Ms Bossong, and Mr Lipsky; parent: Theodora Egbuchulam and principal Ms. Henry. The following are key points from the discussion:

 

 

              1- Edmodo is a free Facebook platform website set up by teachers- has homework listed, students can ask teachers questions

          2-Use Castle Learning and Glencoe websites

          3-Home work helper- meets after school with other students

          4-Communication-Email your child’s teachers/guidance counselors

          5-Don’t be afraid to ask for help from teachers

          6-Have responsibility/accountability

          7-Have the determination to succeed

          8-Get involved with after school activities; ex-sports, extracurricular clubs, extra help

          9-Build relationships/friendships with other students

 

                  

          10- As a parent-set up a daily routine, instill values, be an influence, put your child in the right environment, be on top of their homework, have faith things will work well.
